Wattle and Daub: Wattle and daub is a wonderful method used to construct non-load bearing walls.  It consists of a woven lattice of smaller, more flexible wooden or bamboo pieces (the wattle), which is then covered with varying mixtures of sand, clay, soil, manure, and chopped straw (the daub).

Light Clay: Along with wattle and daub, light clay is commonly used as the wall material in timberframe and cob structures alike.  It is composed of loose straw mixed with slip.  It is as beautiful as wattle and daub, lightweight, non-load bearing, insulative, and good for soundproofing.
